Bug and Poison types are often overlooked but can be incredibly useful!
BUG TYPE
Super effective against: Grass, Psychic, Dark
Weak to: Fire, Flying, Rock
Resists: Grass, Fighting, Ground
Best Bug Pokemon:
- Scizor (Bug/Steel): Bullet Punch priority, amazing typing
- Heracross (Bug/Fighting): Huge Attack, Close Combat + Megahorn
- Volcarona (Bug/Fire): Quiver Dance sweeper, devastating Sp.Atk
- Scolipede (Bug/Poison): Fast physical attacker, Speed Boost
- Galvantula (Bug/Electric): Fast special attacker, unique typing
Why use Bug types:
- Counter Psychic and Dark types
- Scizor is one of the best Pokemon in the game
- Bug/Steel typing has only ONE weakness (Fire)
- U-Turn is an excellent pivot move (damage + switch)
POISON TYPE
Super effective against: Grass, Fairy
Weak to: Ground, Psychic
Resists: Grass, Fighting, Poison, Bug, Fairy
Immune to: Toxic (cannot be poisoned)
Best Poison Pokemon:
- Gengar (Ghost/Poison): Fast special attacker, iconic
- Roserade (Grass/Poison): Great Sp.Atk and Speed
- Toxapex (Poison/Water): One of the best walls ever
- Crobat (Poison/Flying): Extremely fast, good support
- Nidoking (Poison/Ground): Great coverage and Attack
Why use Poison types:
- Counter Fairy types (Fairy is one of the best types)
- Poison + Ground coverage is excellent
- Many Poison types have great utility moves (Toxic, Poison Jab)
- Steel types can't be poisoned but Poison moves still deal damage
WHERE TO FIND
Bug: Mystic Jungle, Haunted Forest, Cherry Grove
Poison: Ghost House, Mystic Jungle
SYNERGY
Bug + Poison work well together:
- Bug hits Dark/Psychic, Poison hits Fairy
- Together they cover most threats
- Scizor + Gengar is a classic combo
