Snorlax is a Generation 1 Normal type with one of the most distinctive designs and playstyles in the game. It has the highest base HP of any non-legendary (160) and is famous for walking straight through teams that can\'t handle its bulk.
Base Stats
Snorlax has 160 HP, 110 Attack, 65 Defense, 65 Sp.Atk, 110 Sp.Def, and 30 Speed. Its combination of massive HP and high Special Defense makes it a phenomenal special wall. Physically it\'s less impressive but still survivable thanks to the sheer HP pool.
Thick Fat Ability
Snorlax\'s hidden ability Thick Fat halves damage from Fire and Ice attacks. Since Snorlax\'s only real weakness is Fighting, Thick Fat turns it into an even more oppressive wall. Many teams simply cannot break Thick Fat Snorlax without a dedicated Fighting attacker.
Curse Sweeper Strategy
The most iconic Snorlax build is the Curse sweeper. Curse raises Attack and Defense by one stage each while lowering Speed (which Snorlax doesn\'t care about). After two or three Curses, Snorlax becomes an unkillable physical wall that one-shots most Pokemon.
Best Moveset
Curse, Rest, Body Slam, Earthquake or Crunch. Body Slam has a 30% paralysis chance, which combined with Snorlax\'s bulk creates nightmare matchups. Rest recovers full HP and pairs with Sleep Talk for a fully self-sustaining wall.
Counters
Fighting types are the hard counter — Machamp, Conkeldurr, and Urshifu shred Snorlax with Close Combat. Taunt users also stop Curse cold. Trick users can remove Snorlax\'s Leftovers.
