Berry Guide — All Berries Explained

Berries are consumable held items that trigger effects in specific situations. There are over 60 berries in the games, but only about 15 are competitively relevant. Here is the complete breakdown of the ones that matter.

Healing Berries

  • Oran Berry — restores 10 HP when under 50%
  • Sitrus Berry — restores 25% HP when under 50%
  • Berry Juice — restores 20 HP (Gen 2+ remake only)

Status Cure Berries

  • Cheri Berry — cures paralysis
  • Chesto Berry — cures sleep (use with Rest)
  • Pecha Berry — cures poison
  • Rawst Berry — cures burn
  • Aspear Berry — cures freeze
  • Lum Berry — cures any status once

Type-Resist Berries

These berries halve damage from one specific type once. Examples: Occa Berry (Fire), Passho Berry (Water), Wacan Berry (Electric), Yache Berry (Ice), Chople Berry (Fighting), Kebia Berry (Poison), Shuca Berry (Ground). Use these to tank a super-effective hit you couldn\'t otherwise survive.

Pinch Berries (Stat Boosters)

When HP drops below 25%, these berries trigger stat boosts:

  • Liechi Berry — +1 Attack
  • Petaya Berry — +1 Special Attack
  • Salac Berry — +1 Speed
  • Ganlon Berry — +1 Defense

Weakness Policy

Not a berry, but worth mentioning — Weakness Policy grants +2 Attack and +2 Sp.Atk when hit by a super-effective move. It pairs perfectly with bulky Pokemon like Dragonite thanks to Multiscale.
